Privacy Policy

BC Rods ("we", "us", or "our") is run by Adam Burtson in Millsboro, Delaware. This page explains what information we collect on this website, how we use it, and what choices you have.

Information We Collect

Contact and quote forms. When you use our contact or quote forms, we collect what you enter, such as your name, email, phone number, and the details of your message or project. We use it only to reply to you and, if you place an order, to complete it.

Orders. When you buy a rod online, we collect your name, email, phone number, any notes you add, your pickup or drop-off choice, the rods and total price, and the Square order and payment IDs. We use this to complete your order and keep business records.

Payments. Square processes payments. You enter your card details on Square's checkout, and we never see or store them. Square handles that information under its own privacy policy.

Your cart. Your cart is saved in your browser's local storage with a random anonymous ID. To show how many other visitors have a rod in their cart, our servers keep that ID and the rods in your cart for up to 24 hours. It is not tied to your name or contact details.

Testimonials. If you submit a testimonial, we collect your quote, display name, optional role or location, an email or phone number for follow-up, and an optional photo. Your email and phone are never shown publicly, and we review every testimonial before it is published.

Spam protection. To block spam, the testimonial form uses Google reCAPTCHA, and we store a scrambled (hashed) version of your IP address, not the address itself, to limit repeat submissions. reCAPTCHA sends some browser and device information to Google, and Google's Privacy Policy and Terms apply.

Basic visit data. Vercel Web Analytics records anonymous, combined visit data such as pages viewed and where visitors came from, so we can see how the site is used. It does not use cookies or build profiles of individual visitors.

How We Use Your Information

• To answer your questions and quote requests, handle orders, and arrange pickup or drop-off.
• To process payments, prevent fraud and spam, and keep the site secure.
• To improve the site and understand which pages are most useful.
• To meet legal, tax, and record-keeping requirements.

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.

Service Providers

We use a few outside services to run this site:

• Square processes payments and sends receipts.
• Formspree delivers form submissions and order notifications to us by email.
• Supabase stores site content, gallery images, testimonials, orders, and cart activity.
• Vercel hosts the website and provides anonymized, cookie-free Web Analytics. It may also log standard technical data, such as IP addresses, as part of serving the site.
• Google provides reCAPTCHA and serves the typefaces used on the site; your browser contacts Google directly for these.

These services follow their own privacy policies and terms.

Cookies and Local Storage

This site does not set tracking cookies for visitors. We use your browser's local storage to remember your cart. One login cookie is used only by the site owner for the private admin area. Google reCAPTCHA may set its own cookies when the testimonial form is shown.

Data Retention

We keep form submissions as long as we need them to handle your inquiry or order. We keep order records as long as we need them for business, tax, and legal reasons. Cart activity is deleted automatically when it expires. You can ask us to delete your information at any time, except for records we are required to keep.

Your Rights

You can ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Contact us using the details below and we'll respond within a reasonable time.

Children's Privacy

This site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has submitted information to us, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy. Changes will be posted here with a new date at the top.
